Choi Minhan Passes Rigorous KDCA Certification
"Strengthening Field-Oriented Infectious Disease Response Expected"
Buyeo County in South Chungcheong Province has independently secured specialized personnel for infectious disease response, aiming to strengthen the region's disease prevention capabilities.
Choi Minhan, an official from the Infectious Disease Response Team at Buyeo County Public Health Center, has been appointed as the first "infectious disease epidemiological investigator" at the county level in South Chungcheong Province. This appointment is seen as a symbolic measure to establish an immediate and systematic response system in the event of an infectious disease outbreak.
On October 20, Buyeo County announced that it had appointed Choi Minhan as its first infectious disease epidemiological investigator to enhance its infectious disease response system.
The qualification of epidemiological investigator is granted only after successfully completing a rigorous process, including specialized education and training, written evaluations, and report preparation, all overseen by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency.
These investigators play a key role in preventing the spread of infectious diseases in the community by identifying causes, analyzing transmission routes, and tracing and managing contacts when an outbreak occurs.
Since 2022, Choi Minhan has been responsible for infectious disease management and prevention work in Buyeo County, leading efforts to improve regional public health.
In particular, he has been recognized for his rapid and systematic on-site response capabilities in managing major infectious diseases such as COVID-19 and influenza.
With this appointment, Buyeo County expects to establish a more specialized system for swift response and containment of infectious disease transmission within the region.
Park Junghyun, the county governor, stated, "The appointment of this epidemiological investigator marks the starting point for Buyeo County's advancement to a more evolved infectious disease response system," adding, "We will continue to expand the training of specialized personnel to do our utmost to safeguard the safety and health of our residents."
