Ungdong 1-dong in Jinhae-gu, Changwon Special City, Gyeongsangnam-do, successfully held the "80th Liberation Anniversary and 71st Ungdong 1-dong Residents' Unity Sports Festival" at Yeonggil Sports Ground on October 19, bringing together local residents for harmony and friendship.
This sports festival was organized by the Ungdong 1-dong Sports Association and began with a performance by the Ungdong 1-dong Community Center program, with over 900 residents participating in the event.
A total of 13 villages competed in four events: women's soccer penalty shootout, relay race, Yutnori, and group jump rope. In addition, special events such as children's running races and rubber shoe throwing were included so that all residents could participate.
The 71st Ungdong 1-dong Residents' Unity Sports Festival aimed to foster harmony and intergenerational understanding among the residents of Ungdong 1-dong, which consists of both apartment complexes and natural villages, and received an enthusiastic response from the community.
Jung Kyusik, president of the Sports Association and organizer of the event, said, "This sports festival was a meaningful occasion for residents to come together, communicate, and build unity," adding, "I will do my best to help Ungdong 1-dong continue to develop."
Meanwhile, Jinhae-gu Mayor Jeong Hyunseop visited the event, listened to village-specific issues, participated in the games himself, and spent time enjoying and communicating with the residents.
