Sejong City Filled with Love for Hangeul
The series of more than ten "Hangeul Across Sejong" events, held in celebration of the 579th Hangeul Day this year, successfully concluded, spreading the value and beauty of Hangeul throughout Sejong City.
According to Sejong City, the events, which combined Hangeul with the region's brewing culture and highlighted the city's unique characteristics, were citizen-participatory and contributed to revitalizing the local economy and establishing a foundation for business growth.
The 2025 Sejong Hangeul Festival, which featured art, culture, and academic conferences themed around Hangeul, as well as participation from children and foreigners, has been well received as a new challenge that created a novel cultural event based on Hangeul in response to the Korean Wave.
Choi Minho, Mayor of Sejong City, stated, "This year's Hangeul Day marked the first year of Sejong's full-fledged leap as a Hangeul cultural city connecting the world," adding, "We will continue to firmly establish our regional cultural identity as a city that inherits the spirit of King Sejong."
