The course of action regarding the custody of the 64 suspects extradited from Cambodia is expected to be decided on the afternoon of October 19.

The National Police Agency announced to the press on this day, "Since a large number of individuals are being investigated under arrest, we will determine whether to request arrest warrants within the 48-hour detention period."


The 64 extradited suspects were apprehended at around 2 a.m. KST on October 18 as soon as they boarded the chartered flight. The Korean Air chartered plane carrying the suspects landed at Incheon International Airport at approximately 8:35 a.m. on the same day.


As the 48-hour detention period expires in the early morning of October 20, the police plan to decide by late afternoon whether to apply for arrest warrants for each suspect.


The 64 suspects are currently being investigated at various locations across the country, including the Chungnam Provincial Police Agency (45 people), Gyeonggi Northern Provincial Police Agency (15 people), Daejeon Metropolitan Police Agency (1 person), Seoul Seodaemun Police Station (1 person), Gyeonggi Southern Provincial Police Agency Gimpo Police Station (1 person), and Gangwon Wonju Police Station (1 person).


The individuals subject to extradition are accused of participating in online fraud crimes such as voice phishing, investment scams, and romance scams at a Cambodian criminal compound known as "Wench."
