The opening ceremony of the 44th Hwasun County Residents' Day and the 2025 Hwasun Dolmen Autumn Flower Festival, held at Hwasun Public Stadium on the 17th, concluded successfully.
With the theme of "A Place of Harmony Across Generations," the event established itself as a true festival of generational integration, with participation from all age groups, from young children to seniors.
In particular, marking the 30th anniversary of local autonomy, the event provided a meaningful opportunity to reflect on past achievements and share a vision for the next 100 years with the residents of Hwasun County.
The first part of the event, the "Recreational Sports Day," featured a variety of programs for children, including air bouncers, a Transformers performance, face painting, and a doodle zone. Additionally, friendly competitions involving both seniors and children fostered intergenerational harmony and communication.
The second part featured vibrant performances by the Jeonnam Provincial Gugak Orchestra, including traditional Korean music songs, fan dances, and Bukgu dances. The subsequent commemorative ceremony included the Hwasun County Residents' Award, commemorative speeches and congratulatory messages, the residents' charter, a commemorative video, and the festival opening ceremony.
This year, the "Hwasun County Residents' Award" was presented to Oh Bangrok, former member of the Hwasun County Council, in the community development category; Koo Jaegil, chairman of Sejong Nursing Hospital, in the community service category; Park Gu, coach of the Hwasun County boxing team, in the education, culture, tourism, and sports category; and Seo Byungyeon, member of the Dogok-myeon Residents' Autonomy Committee, in the industrial economy category.
The commemorative video, themed "Hwasun, From Memory to Vision," used AI-generated footage to vividly showcase the lives of past Hwasun residents and the journey from the first to the eighth popularly elected administration, presenting a dynamic vision for the future of Hwasun. The spectacular fireworks display that accompanied the opening ceremony of the 2025 Hwasun Dolmen Autumn Flower Festival left a lasting impression on all participants.
The third part of the event, "Residents' Harmony Festival," heated up the venue with a passionate singing contest among representative teams from 13 towns and townships. The atmosphere reached its peak with celebratory performances by popular singers such as Harmonize, Lim Jaehyun, Na Young, and Park Hyeshin.
In the singing contest, Dogok-myeon won the grand prize, Hwasun-eup received the top excellence award, and Neungju-myeon was awarded the excellence prize.
This event further strengthened the cohesion of the local community and is credited with enhancing residents' pride. In particular, by reflecting on the progress made over the past 30 years, all residents were able to internalize the message, "Hwasun, walking together in the past, creating the future together."
Go Bokgyu, governor of Hwasun County, stated, "It was meaningful to create a true place of harmony across generations through the 44th Residents' Day," adding, "Building on the achievements of 30 years of local autonomy, we will work together with residents to create a bright future for the next 100 years."
