Russian President Vladimir Putin and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban held a phone conversation on the 17th (local time) to discuss preparations for a summit between Russia and the United States to be held in Budapest, Hungary.
The Kremlin announced in a statement that President Putin and Prime Minister Orban spoke by phone at the initiative of the Hungarian side.
President Putin told Prime Minister Orban, "With the Russia-U.S. summit expected to take place in the Hungarian capital (Budapest), we anticipate discussing an algorithm for further actions in the context of engaging with U.S. representatives and seeking peaceful solutions to the Ukraine crisis."
Prime Minister Orban told President Putin that Hungary is ready to provide the necessary conditions for organizing the summit in Budapest.
President Putin and President Trump agreed the previous day, during a phone call lasting about two hours and thirty minutes, to hold a summit in Budapest to address the Ukraine issue.
