The May organizations have called for a national-level investigation and recovery of the illegal slush funds created by former President Roh Tae-woo.

The three official May 18 organizations (the May 18 Association of Democratic Merit Families, the May 18 Association of Democratic Movement Injured, and the May 18 Association of Democratic Movement Contributors), together with the May 18 Memorial Foundation, issued a statement on the 17th, saying, "The Supreme Court has confirmed that 30 billion won of Roh Tae-woo's funds were illegal slush funds in the divorce lawsuit verdict between Choi Tae-won, chairman of SK Group, and Noh So-young, director of Art Center Nabi. This ruling has clearly revealed the illegality of the new military regime's slush funds."

They added, "It has been confirmed that the scope and use of the new military regime's slush funds were far more extensive. Roh Tae-woo and Chun Doo-hwan massacred citizens and used illegally seized state power to create massive slush funds for the purpose of seizing power." "The government must thoroughly disclose the background and process of the creation of these illegal slush funds, as well as the full scope and use of the funds, and take appropriate measures to recover them," they urged.
