▲Hope Friend Korea Food for the Hungry Releases 2025 Climate Change Issue Report: 'Climate Change, Poverty, and the Food Crisis'

Hope Friend Korea Food for the Hungry (President Choi Changnam) announced on October 17 that it has published the third edition of its 'Climate Change Issue Report,' highlighting the severity of climate change, poverty, and the food crisis in recognition of World Food Day (October 16) and the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty (October 17).

This third edition features stories from the field about creating sustainable change amid the climate crisis and shares practical, field-oriented solutions. Newly introduced this year, the 'Mangrove Forest Creation Project' in Pemba, Tanzania, is a climate change response initiative designed to protect local residents from recurring coastal erosion and farmland degradation, thereby contributing to the restoration of the local ecosystem. In Badulla, Sri Lanka, the 'Climate-Smart Agriculture Education Project' strengthens the self-reliance of local farmers by considering the region's climate characteristics, such as repeated droughts and heavy rainfall in the highlands.

Additionally, the report shares follow-up results from the projects in Ghana and Zimbabwe introduced in the previous second edition, providing concrete evidence of how these initiatives are strengthening community resilience.

Lee Jaeun, Head of Global Impact at Hope Friend Korea Food for the Hungry, said, "Climate change is not just an environmental issue; it is a structural crisis that threatens the survival of the most socially and economically vulnerable communities," adding, "We hope that through this report, more people will empathize with the need to respond to the climate crisis and join us in taking action."

ChildFund Korea (Chairperson Hwang Youngki) held a seminar on October 16 (local time) at Kigali Central Police Station in Rwanda to share research results aimed at advancing early childhood education in Rwanda.

Since 2016, ChildFund Korea has been supporting early childhood education in Rwanda and identified the lack of teacher expertise and absence of continuing education as key issues in the existing education system. Based on these findings, ChildFund Korea has been conducting foundational research for policy development on early childhood teacher training in Rwanda, in cooperation with domestic and international private and government organizations.

Through its research, ChildFund Korea emphasizes the need to establish a system to strengthen the capabilities of teachers, who play a crucial role not only in educating young children at school but also in supporting their emotional and social development.

Hwang Youngki, Chairperson of ChildFund Korea, said, "I hope this research will help improve the development and education system for young children in Rwanda," adding, "ChildFund Korea will continue to work closely with the Rwandan government and international organizations to help Rwandan children achieve their dreams through education."
