Gangwon Province Hosts Meeting with Overseas Korean Journalists Association
Journalists from 19 Countries Embark on 4-Day Field Reporting
Exploring Future Industry and Tourism Sites in Chuncheon, Wonju, and More
On October 16, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Governor Kim Jin-tae) held a meeting with the Overseas Korean Journalists Association (Chairman Kim Hoon), who visited the provincial government office, to introduce the vision and key policies of Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province and to strengthen communication with overseas Korean communities.
The meeting was attended by Governor Kim Jin-tae and a delegation of 32 people, including publishers of overseas Korean media outlets active in 28 cities across 19 countries.
During the meeting, the province shared the major achievements since the launch of "Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province" in June 2023, and exchanged views on strategies to realize Gangwon as a global city for future industries, focusing on seven major future industries such as semiconductors, bio, and future mobility.
This visit was organized in conjunction with the 7th Overseas Korean Journalists Association International Forum, which was held at the National Assembly from October 14 to 15.
From October 16 to 19, the delegation will spend four days and three nights visiting key cultural, tourism, and industrial sites in Chuncheon (Samaaksan Cable Car, Cheongpyeongsa Temple, Nami Island), Wonju (Park Kyungni Literature Park, Neobiotech Co., Ltd., Seoul F&B Co., Ltd.), Taebaek (Sky Observatory, Coal Museum, Cheoram Coal Mine History Village), Pyeongchang (Woljeongsa Temple, Joseon Dynasty Annals Museum), and Goseong (DMZ Peace Road), covering the sites as part of their field reporting.
The Overseas Korean Journalists Association is an organization composed of publishers or representatives from 64 media outlets in 31 countries, working to promote friendship among overseas Korean journalists, enhance their rights and interests, and raise their status.
Governor Kim Jin-tae stated, "Gangwon Province is located close to the Seoul metropolitan area, just an hour and 40 minutes from Seoul to Gangneung," adding, "Since its launch as Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province three years ago, we have been focusing on nurturing seven major future industries, including semiconductors."
