'Local' Means Glocal Entrepreneurship... Dongmyung University Hosts Special Lecture on Local & Glocal Startup Cases

From Local-Based Startups to Global Expansion

Is local entrepreneurship the same as glocal entrepreneurship? Successful startup experiences have reached the campus lecture hall.

On October 14, Dongmyung University held a special lecture on local and glocal startup cases for students interested in local entrepreneurship.

Two experts who have led successful startups participated as speakers in this special lecture, sharing real-life cases from starting a business based in the local community to expanding into the global market.

The first speaker, Kim Hoyoun, CEO of Frontier Foods Co., Ltd., gave a lecture on the topic, "Brands That Survive Competition: The Power of Branding That Builds Fandom."

CEO Kim advised, "Branding is not something you find, but something you create," and added, "You must first ask yourself if it is something you want to do, something you can do well, and something the market needs."

Next, Na Haeri, CEO of Nanugi World Co., Ltd., delivered a lecture titled, "From a Small Seed to a Global Tree: Embracing the World as a Local-Based Startup." CEO Na shared her journey of deciding to start a business to protect the socially disadvantaged and improve industrial structures, raising the question, "Can social problems be solved by intention alone?"

A student who attended the special lecture said, "I was deeply moved by hearing the stories of CEOs who have put entrepreneurship and innovation into practice," and added, "I want to grow into an innovator who brings change to the local community."

Professor Noh Seongyeo of the Department of Entrepreneurship said, "I hope that through this special lecture, students will be able to develop innovative ideas and grow into leaders who put social responsibility into practice, based on the insights and cases they have gained."
