The Ssamsi Park development project was carried out to transform idle spaces near Yonghyeon Elementary School and Saemal Elementary School into safe and pleasant rest areas.
At the Yonghyeon-dong site, the project improved the commuting environment for students by replacing old pavement and outdated facilities, and installing drainage systems to address safety vulnerabilities such as water pooling along school routes.
At the Singok-dong site, the project created a safe and comfortable resting space for residents by planting trees, installing stairs, and establishing rest areas in previously unused spaces.
The inspection began at the Ssamsi Park near Yonghyeon Elementary School and continued to the 122-94 Singok-dong section near Saemal Elementary School. Mayor Kim Donggeun was joined by the Director of the Walkable City Bureau, the Head of the Greenery and Forestry Division, the Heads of Songsan 1-dong and Singok 2-dong, as well as members of the Parent Association, school principals, and local community leaders. Together, they discussed ways to enhance student safety and convenience for residents, and closely inspected the installation status of facilities, drainage maintenance, pavement of walkways, and accessibility of rest areas.
The city plans to address necessary improvements by reflecting the inspection results and residents' feedback. In particular, for the Yonghyeon-dong section, the city will utilize special adjustment grants to install security CCTVs, reinforce tree plantings, and upgrade facilities, with the aim of improving student safety and convenience for residents.
Mayor Kim Donggeun stated, "The city will continue to take necessary measures to resolve residents' inconveniences and improve the living environment," adding, "We will keep listening to voices from the field together with residents and promptly reflect improvements going forward."
