The core of the project is the installation of a 31.1-kilometer water pipeline (21.9 kilometers on land and 9.2 kilometers under the sea) connecting the regional water supply system from the Haenam branch point to Nohwa-eup. In addition, the project will build water supply facilities with a daily capacity of 1,000 cubic meters, including one reservoir and two pumping stations.
The county plans to complete the detailed design by next month, begin the bidding process in December, and finish the project by the end of 2027. Wando County will provide administrative support, such as permits required for the project, while Korea Water Resources Corporation will be responsible for the design and construction.
A county official stated, "By supplying regional water through an undersea pipeline, we expect to fundamentally resolve the water supply issues in island areas, such as shortages caused by drought. We will do our utmost to ensure the project begins early and proceeds without delay."
