Closed Just One Day After Recruitment Began
On October 17, Goheung County in South Jeolla Province (Governor Gong Youngmin) announced that the "Yuja Village Chon-cance," a stay-type rural experience program being operated for the first time in Korea, closed applications just one day after recruitment began. This comes ahead of the 5th Goheung Yuja Festival, which will be held from November 6 to 9 for four days in Handong-ri, Pungyang-myeon.
The "Yuja Village Chon-cance" is a unique experiential accommodation program set in Yangri Village, Goheung, the largest yuja-producing region in Korea. It offers participants an opportunity to enjoy the charm of the countryside and the tranquility of nature at the same time.
The program will run for three days, from November 6 to 8. Participants can stroll through the village filled with the scent of yuja, enjoy a variety of activities such as picking yuja and making yuja syrup, and stay in traditional hanok and garden-style lodgings operated by local residents. This allows them to experience genuine relaxation and warmth that cannot be found in urban settings.
The program attracted significant attention as soon as recruitment was announced, and the fact that it closed within a single day once again demonstrated the high level of interest in Goheung yuja and the growing demand for rural stay-type tourism.
Governor Gong Youngmin stated, "This festival, where Goheung’s nature, people, and yuja come together, will be more than just a tourist event-it will be a healing space that adds fragrance to life. We will continue to create festivals that both local residents and visitors can enjoy and relate to, promoting the charm of Goheung yuja nationwide."
Meanwhile, the 5th Goheung Yuja Festival, under the theme "Fragrance of People! Yuja Paradise," will feature a variety of programs such as yuja field experiences, exhibitions of yuja specialty products, and making yuja tea, creating a festival filled with the unique warmth and spirit of Goheung.
