Sharing Job Models and Policy Discussions
at Suwan Culture and Sports Center on the 21st
Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju is organizing a forum to discuss the implementation of sustainable job policies, which have been adopted as a national government agenda.
On the 17th, Gwangsan-gu announced that it will hold the "2025 Sustainable Jobs White Paper Forum" at 2 p.m. on the 21st at the Suwan Culture and Sports Center, under the theme "Sustainable Jobs Discovered Together with Citizens."
This marks the final stage before the completion of the "Sustainable Jobs White Paper," which compiles the results of citizen-participatory social dialogues conducted over the past year and two months since July of last year.
During the forum, answers, policy directions, and implementation plans jointly developed by citizens, workers, businesses, and experts will be shared. Professor Chae Junho of Jeonbuk National University will deliver the keynote presentation, while Professor Kim Juil of Korea University of Technology and Education will serve as moderator. Panelists will include Lee Sangho, Research Fellow at Korea Employment Information Service; Yoo Changbok, Adjunct Professor at Sungkonghoe University; Han Kyungrok, Director at Gwangju Research Institute; and Yoon Hyeyoung, Gwangsan-gu Council Member.
Since the publication of the "Green Paper" in March, Gwangsan-gu has operated a second phase of dialogues centered around a dedicated social dialogue body. Citizen input was collected through six subcommittees-manufacturing, public services, private services, community, green transition, and care-as well as community tours and online social dialogues. In the first phase, 1,436 questions raised by citizens received over 10,000 responses, which led to the identification of six major agendas and 23 job models.
This forum will serve to review these achievements, conduct in-depth discussions for effective policy design, and gather additional citizen feedback. Based on the results, the district plans to finalize the white paper by the end of October and then begin work on the policy implementation plan, the "Blue Paper," with pilot projects scheduled for the first half of next year.
District Mayor Park Byungkyu stated, "The citizen-participatory social dialogue has now entered the stages of policy formulation and implementation," and added, "We will make Gwangsan-gu's sustainable jobs a success and expand this model nationwide."
Gwangsan-gu's grassroots citizen-participatory dialogue aligns with national government agendas such as "creating quality jobs led by the local community" and "expanding support for social wages, including housing, welfare, and care."
