Yangsan City Sports Council Hosts Community Sports Program Participants Unity Competition

Vitalizing the Community Through Community Sports
with Enthusiastic Citizen Participation

The "Community Sports Program Participants Unity Competition," hosted by the Yangsan City Sports Council in South Gyeongsang Province, was held with great success on the afternoon of October 15 in the main auditorium of the Yangsan Culture and Arts Center.

The Yangsan City Sports Council has been operating various free community sports classes in the first half of 2025, receiving enthusiastic responses from citizens.

This event brought together 14 teams participating in community sports programs, such as the Summer Night Gymnastics Class and the Haedalmajigi Class, who heated up the atmosphere with passionate performances in Zumba dance, line dance, and other dances. It became a festival where participants showcased their achievements, encouraged each other, and strengthened unity.

In the first half of this year alone, the Yangsan City Sports Council operated about 70 programs, achieving significant results in promoting community sports, with cumulative participation reaching 110,000 people. These community sports programs are funded with a total budget of 266 million won, including 215 million won from the city and 62 million won from the province.

Based on this support, the Yangsan City Sports Council actively incorporates citizen feedback to design customized programs tailored to different age groups and lifestyles. Fourteen community sports instructors are assigned to over 70 locations throughout the city, actively supporting citizens in improving their health.

One of the most popular programs, the Senior Park Golf Class, saw overwhelming interest due to the high demand for health improvement and leisure activities among seniors. Registration was conducted on a first-come, first-served basis, and on the opening day, many seniors lined up in front of the Sports Council office even before business hours, demonstrating the program's immense popularity.

Additionally, the free Adult K-POP Class, launched in response to the global K-POP phenomenon, became a sensation by offering office workers a fun way to relieve stress and exercise after work. The program was so popular that, despite only 20 available spots, over 90 applicants signed up, resulting in explosive participation and a highly successful outcome.

Furthermore, the Marathon Class records high participation, with about 150 people joining each session, contributing to the energetic lifestyles of citizens. The Summer Night Health Gymnastics Class, held at seven locations in the city from May to October this year, has become a popular evening outdoor activity spot, thanks to enthusiastic citizen support. These programs have greatly contributed to helping citizens improve their fitness and enjoy a healthy leisure culture.

Thanks to the active operation of these programs, citizens have expressed positive feedback, saying, "Thanks to the Yangsan City Sports Council, I am able to lead a healthy and vibrant life."
