On the 17th, Gwangmyeong City in Gyeonggi Province signed a "Business Agreement for Promoting Electric Vehicle-Based Community Car Sharing" with Kia at the city hall conference room.

This agreement is part of the "Small-Scale Smart City Development Project," a public contest project by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, for which the city was selected last year. The goal is to alleviate traffic congestion around the Gwangmyeong Station area, promote eco-friendly transportation, and reduce carbon emissions.

Under the agreement, Kia will supply and operate 10 shared electric vehicles on the sixth basement level of "Gwangmyeong Station U Planet," located at 512-3 Iljik-dong. The city will provide administrative and financial support for the operation of the shared electric vehicles.

Kia plans to deploy five vehicles by the end of this month and add another five early next year, operating a total of ten vehicles.

The shared electric vehicles will be available to businesses and citizens within the Gwangmyeong Station area. During weekday business hours, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., the vehicles will be used for corporate work. Outside of business hours on weekdays and during weekends, citizens can use them freely.

Those who wish to use the service can install the "Kia Biz" app on their smartphones, sign up as members, and make reservations.

Park Seungwon, Mayor of Gwangmyeong City, said, "This agreement will become a leading model of eco-friendly transportation services that both businesses and citizens can experience together. We will continue to expand various eco-friendly transportation services so that citizens can travel conveniently and comfortably in the future."
