[Breaking] Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba Makes Offering at Yasukuni Shrine

Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba made an offering in his capacity as Prime Minister at the Yasukuni Shrine in Kudankita, Tokyo, on the morning of October 17, according to reports from local media outlets such as the Tokyo Shimbun. This offering coincided with the annual autumn festival.

However, the Tokyo Shimbun, citing officials, reported that Prime Minister Ishiba does not plan to visit the shrine in person during the festival period, which runs until October 19. The newly appointed Liberal Democratic Party President Sanae Takaichi also intends to refrain from visiting the shrine, taking into consideration relations with South Korea and China, the report added.
