Gyeonggi Province Signs MOU for Automatic Entry of Disability Call Taxis into Apartment Complexes
Batch Vehicle Registration Enables Fast Entry and Improves Mobility Convenience for People with Transportation Challenges
Starting as early as the end of October, Gyeonggi Province will allow special transportation vehicles for people with disabilities (Disability Call Taxis) to automatically enter apartment complexes within the province without separate visitor verification, making boarding and alighting more convenient for users.
On the 17th, Gyeonggi Province, Gyeonggi Transportation Corporation, the Gyeonggi branch of the Korea Association of Apartment Managers, and the Gyeonggi branch of the National Apartment Residents' Representatives Association signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to introduce the "Automatic Entry Service for Special Transportation Vehicles in Apartment Complexes in Gyeonggi Province."
Currently, in some apartment complexes, even Disability Call Taxis are required to undergo visitor verification through barriers, which restricts boarding for mobility-impaired individuals and often results in long waiting times.
In response, for the first time among metropolitan governments, all vehicle numbers for special transportation vehicles in each city and county will be collectively registered in the apartment parking management system operated by the Korea Association of Apartment Managers. This will allow vehicles to pass through barriers without separate verification procedures.
Kim Gwangdeok, Director of the Transportation Bureau of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "We expect that this agreement will significantly improve the convenience of using special transportation for people with mobility challenges, and we will continue to do our utmost to enhance their right to mobility."
Min Kyungseon, President of Gyeonggi Transportation Corporation, also said, "With this agreement, people with mobility challenges will be able to board special transportation vehicles more quickly and conveniently, which will increase their satisfaction with the service. We will continue to strive to create a transportation welfare environment centered on the needs of those with mobility challenges."
