At the kickoff briefing held at the City Hall Vision Hall on the 16th, Bangs Hwan, Mayor of Gwangju City, stated, "This master plan will serve as an important milestone in guiding the development of Gwangju's rural areas over the next ten years." He emphasized, "By faithfully reflecting the realities of the region and the voices of residents, we will create a sustainable rural Gwangju where people want to stay, shaping the future of our city."

Approximately 60 people attended the briefing, including Mayor Bangs Hwan, Heo Kyunghaeng, Chairman of the City Council, and heads of relevant departments. The event included explanations of the necessity and direction of the plan, the basic concept (draft), and the future schedule. Participants engaged in broad discussions about key issues and development strategies for rural areas.

This master plan is a statutory plan based on the "Act on Supporting Rural Space Restructuring and Regeneration," which was enacted in March last year. It is a mid- to long-term strategy, spanning ten years, designed to address the crisis of rural extinction.

Based on this plan, Gwangju City intends to actively pursue various public projects such as the General Rural Development Project and the Rural Space Maintenance Project, while continuously identifying and implementing practical, field-oriented initiatives.
