Held in Busan for the First Time in 25 Years,
Gijang Promotes Its Status as a Leading Sports City Nationwide

This year's National Sports Festival and National Para Games are being held in Busan for the first time in 25 years. As a torch relay and major event venue, Gijang County plans to promote its status nationwide as a leading sports city.
The event was attended by Jeong Jongbok, Governor of Gijang County, Park Hongbok, Chairman of the Gijang County Council, members of the Busan Metropolitan Council, officials from the Gijang County Sports Association, torchbearers, and about 100 local residents, all wishing for the successful hosting of the games.
For the Gijang leg of the torch relay, about 50 participants-including community contributors, people with disabilities, athletes, and torchbearers-took part. The relay started at Gijang Hyundai Dream Ballpark and proceeded through Daebyeon Port and Haedong Yonggungsa Temple.
At the Haedong Yonggungsa Temple section, a unique relay took place with participants dressed in monk robes, further enhancing the festive atmosphere at the site.
Governor Jeong Jongbok stated, "I hope this event becomes more than just a sports competition, but a festival of unity and passion created by all residents," and asked for active interest and participation from the community to ensure the success of the event.
Six sports for the National Sports Festival and three sports for the National Para Games will be held in Gijang County.
The National Sports Festival events hosted in Gijang County are: billiards and table tennis (at Gijang Indoor Gymnasium), golf (at Asiad Country Club), baseball (at Gijang Hyundai Dream Ballpark), football (at World Cup Village), mountain biking (at Theme Forest Road), and softball (at the Softball Stadium). For the National Para Games, golf, football, and table tennis will be held in Gijang County.
