Compliance with Storage Temperatures for Refrigerated and Frozen Foods
Seo-gu, Gwangju announced on the 16th that it had conducted hygiene inspections of temporary food establishments and food trucks operating at the Seochang Silver Grass Festival held along the Yeongsan River.
On the 16th, Seo-gu District in Gwangju conducted a hygiene inspection targeting temporary operation restaurants and food trucks at the Seochang Silver Grass Festival event venue. Provided by Seo-gu District, Gwangju
The inspection focused on several key areas: whether business owners and employees had undergone health checkups; whether products past their expiration date were being used, stored, or sold; the sanitary condition of kitchens and other facilities; compliance with storage temperatures for refrigerated and frozen foods; and the overall hygienic handling of food.
In particular, the district plans to inspect programs such as "SG Dining," a fall culinary experience enjoyed with a sommelier at the silver grass festival, as well as the Seochang Silver Grass Tavern, to ensure that citizens are provided with healthy and safe food content.
The district distributed materials to promote food poisoning prevention and emphasized strict hygiene management of food and beverages at the festival. It also highlighted the importance of following preventive measures, including washing hands with soap under running water for at least 30 seconds, maintaining proper storage temperatures (below 5°C for refrigeration, below -18°C for freezing), and cleaning and disinfecting ingredients and cooking utensils.
Park Chaeyoung, head of the Health and Hygiene Division, stated, "As this festival attracts many visitors, we are doing our utmost to create a hygienic food environment. We ask that both business operators and citizens strictly adhere to food poisoning prevention guidelines to help foster a healthy festival culture together."
Meanwhile, the 10th Gwangju Seochang Silver Grass Festival will be held for four days until the 19th along the Yeongsan River (from Geukrakgyo Bridge to Seochanggyo Bridge, in the Nanumnuri Forest area), featuring a variety of programs designed to stimulate the senses, including Nanumnuri Sunset 530, Soundscape Experience, SG Dining, Spacing Out Contest, and Silver Grass Exploration Team.
