According to Seo-gu on the 16th, Professor Lee Sedol became a legend in the Go world after joining as a professional player at the age of 12 and winning 14 major international tournaments. In particular, he drew global attention in 2016 by defeating the artificial intelligence AlphaGo.
During the academy, Professor Lee gave a lecture on the theme "In the Age of AI: The Importance of Human Thought Beyond AI," where he sincerely reflected on his experience playing against AlphaGo and discussed the unique human abilities of reasoning and creativity. He emphasized the need for people living in the AI era to actively utilize and lead AI technology.
Kim Ikang, head of Seo-gu District Office, stated, "Seo-gu Academy is a lifelong learning platform where we invite prominent figures from various fields to share insights with residents in line with changing times. We will continue to provide opportunities for learning that foster and spread creative thinking."
Meanwhile, Seo-gu has elevated the level of the Seo-gu Academy by inviting prominent figures whom residents have wanted to meet, such as poet Na Taejoo, comedian Ko Myunghwan, broadcaster Kim Jedong, singer Sean, art critic Yoo Hongjoon, and announcer Han Seokjun. In November, docent Lee Changyong is scheduled to visit Seo-gu.
