Daejeon Expected to Become a Central Hub for Next-Generation Defense Technology
LIG Nex1 Co., Ltd. has invested approximately 100 billion won to complete the construction of a satellite and laser system assembly building in Juk-dong, Yuseong-gu, Daejeon.
The completion ceremony, held on the 15th, marked the culmination of LIG Nex1's large-scale facility investment project. With this investment, Daejeon is expected to become a central hub for next-generation defense technology.
More than 150 guests attended the ceremony, including Daejeon Mayor Lee Jangwoo, LIG Group Chairman Koo Bonsang, LIG Nex1 CEO Shin Ikhyun, as well as representatives from companies, organizations, and the local industrial sector. Through progress reports and a facility tour, participants shared the importance of developing future weapon systems and expanding regional investment.
With the completion of this assembly building, LIG Nex1 will utilize it for the development of satellite SAR payloads (core satellite components used for military reconnaissance and terrain observation) and laser launchers for laser C-RAM systems (laser weapons for intercepting rockets and other aerial threats).
In his congratulatory remarks, Daejeon Mayor Lee Jangwoo stated, "The completion of this facility by LIG Nex1 will serve as a crucial milestone for Daejeon to emerge as a leading city in the defense industry," adding, "We will spare no effort in supporting Daejeon, which boasts the nation’s best defense infrastructure, to become a growth hub for the defense industry."
