14.3 Billion Won Invested to Complete "Local Waterworks Modernization Project"
Real-Time Integrated Monitoring System Established for Leak Detection and Water Quality Management
Cheongyang County in South Chungcheong Province has newly established a "Smart Integrated Waterworks Operation Center" to provide clean and stable tap water. By introducing a real-time data-based water management system, the county has completed a system that reduces leakage and enables comprehensive management of water quality, quantity, and pressure at a glance.
Cheongyang County announced on October 16 that the Integrated Waterworks Operation Center within the Clear Water Office has officially begun operations.
This project was launched after being selected for the Ministry of Environment's "Local Waterworks Modernization Project" in 2019, and has been promoted through a consignment agreement with K-water.
From 2020 to this year, the county invested a total of 14.3 billion won, including national funds, over five years to sequentially replace old water pipes, block and segment the water supply network, and establish the integrated operation center.
In particular, the first floor of the Clear Water Office was remodeled to create the operation center, and the water supply network throughout Cheongyang was divided and layered into two large blocks and five small blocks.
The newly established integrated operation system combines the existing booster station and reservoir operation systems, allowing the entire county's water supply network to be managed on a single platform.
In addition, real-time data and situational information are displayed on monitoring screens, enabling swift response in case of emergencies such as leaks or water quality issues.
Through this system, the county aims to reduce water loss and improve maintenance efficiency, while establishing a "low-cost, high-efficiency" waterworks operation system.
A county official stated, "With the Integrated Waterworks Operation Center, we can now provide residents with even cleaner and more stable tap water," adding, "The real-time monitoring system will enable immediate response to unexpected incidents, thereby increasing public trust."
