A Public-Private Partnership for Children from Single-Parent Families
Providing “Study Spaces of Hope” to Housing-Vulnerable Children
On October 15, the Masanhappo District Office in Changwon Special City, South Gyeongsang Province, held an agreement ceremony for the “Small Study Room for Nurturing Dreams” project at the district office, aimed at improving the living environment for children from single-parent families.
The ceremony was attended by Seo Hogwan, head of the Masanhappo District Office, Son Seongha, president of the Bukmasan Furniture Merchants Association, Park Haekeung, director of the Masan General Social Welfare Center, and other key figures from both the public and private sectors, who expressed their commitment to collaborative efforts for local children.
The “Small Study Room for Nurturing Dreams” project is a residential welfare initiative that targets children from single-parent families living in poor housing conditions. It aims to renovate old and deteriorated living spaces and create customized study rooms to support children’s learning and emotional development.
The project will be implemented through a collaborative approach: the Masanhappo District Office will identify eligible recipients and provide administrative support; the Bukmasan Furniture Merchants Association will supply study furniture and materials; and the Masan General Social Welfare Center will be responsible for on-site construction and environmental improvements.
Seo Hogwan, head of the district office, stated, “This project marks the beginning of a warm partnership among local merchants, welfare institutions, and the administration,” adding, “We will continue to provide unwavering support so that children can nurture their dreams in a safe and pleasant environment.”
With this agreement, Masanhappo District plans to further promote a culture of sharing within the local community and gradually expand various public-private partnership projects to ensure housing stability and learning rights for children from single-parent families.
