Government Issues Travel Ban for Bokor Mountain, Bavet, and Poipet in Cambodia

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on October 15 that it will issue a Level 4 "Travel Ban" advisory for certain areas of Cambodia starting at midnight on October 16, and will also raise the existing travel advisory levels for other regions.

Among the areas currently under a special travel advisory, the Bokor Mountain area in Kampot Province, Bavet City, and Poipet City will be designated as travel ban zones.

Bokor Mountain is where a Korean national was found dead in August, and both Bavet City and Poipet City are also known to have a high concentration of criminal organizations.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned that visiting or staying in these areas after the travel ban is issued may result in penalties under relevant regulations such as the Passport Act.

Sihanoukville Province, which is also known as a hub for criminal organizations, will be placed under Level 3 "Recommendation to Leave the Country."

Other areas currently under the special travel advisory (Level 2.5) will remain under the same advisory, while all areas not under the special travel advisory or Level 3 or 4 advisories will be placed under Level 2 "Travel Caution."
