People Power Party Considers Boycotting the Audit

Members of the Democratic Party, who belong to the National Assembly Legislation and Judiciary Committee, are attempting to proceed with the on-site verification as planned during the Supreme Court's on-site national audit.
Chairperson Chu Mi-ae of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee began the national audit immediately after the committee's general meeting this morning, stating, "We will begin the on-site verification of the Supreme Court." She explained, "This is to verify the legitimacy and validity of the remand process by examining related materials such as electronic log records from the remand ruling of a presidential candidate and the supporting documentation for the budget calculation regarding the increase in the number of Supreme Court justices."
In response, the People Power Party objected, stating that they could not agree to the on-site verification, leading to continued disputes between the ruling and opposition parties throughout the morning. Eventually, Chairperson Chu declared a suspension of the audit around noon, saying, "Due to time constraints, we will move to the site," and requested, "The Court Administration Office should guide us to the site, led by the Chief."
When Song Seokjun, a member of the People Power Party, blocked the meeting room door, Democratic Party members ignored this and left the audit venue without guidance from the Court Administration Office staff. It is reported that Chief Cheon Daeyeop held a meeting for about an hour in his office on the 6th floor with Chairperson Chu Mi-ae, Kim Yongmin, the Democratic Party's secretary for the Legislation and Judiciary Committee, and other Democratic Party members.
The People Power Party members who remained in the audit venue held a countermeasure meeting on site. Assemblyman Shin Dongwook stated, "Following the confinement of the Chief Justice two days ago, we cannot comply with the occupation of the Supreme Court," adding, "We are considering boycotting the audit, including leaving the venue in the afternoon."
