The Damyang County Cultural Foundation (Chairman: Jeong Cheolwon, hereinafter referred to as the Foundation) announced on October 15 that it is recruiting participants for the “Dambit Philosophy Walk - Damyang Edition,” a two-day, one-night philosophical journey to discover a new self through questions posed by nature. This program is part of the 2025 Humanities Program for Middle-aged and Older Adults, sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Arts Council Korea.

This program is designed to allow participants to experience Damyang's traditional garden culture. It will depart from Suncheon on November 6 and include a two-day, one-night tour of the Damyang area. Key activities include visits to the Korea Gasa Literature Museum and Soswaewon, where participants will “learn about the philosophy of life found in sijo poetry” and “reflect on their own image in nature through garden culture.” These activities will provide opportunities for self-reflection within Damyang’s ecological environment and the cradle of gasa literature.

In addition, a variety of humanities programs are planned, such as listening to stories about Damyang at the studio of Ko Jaejong, a writer from Damyang, and making bookmarks while walking along the Metasequoia-lined road.

The program is open to a total of 20 middle-aged participants in their 40s to 60s residing in the Suncheon area of South Jeolla Province. Participation is free of charge, with transportation, accommodation, and four meals over two days and one night provided. Applications can be submitted online by filling out a form via QR code or by phone until October 31.

A Foundation representative said, “This Dambit Philosophy Walk will be a valuable opportunity to experience the nature, art, and humanistic spirit of Damyang, and to embark on a journey of self-reflection and freedom. We hope many middle-aged adults will participate and find a pause in their lives.”
