Pocheon City Visits Okjeong-Pocheon Metropolitan Railway Construction Site

On that day, Baek Younghyun, mayor of Pocheon, visited the site office, held a meeting with officials from the construction company and the supervisory team, checked the progress of the project, and encouraged those involved.

Mayor Baek stated, "The railway project has been a long-standing wish of Pocheon citizens and is a driving force for future growth. Please ensure timely operation and prioritize safety to prevent any accidents." He added, "To revitalize the local economy, please expand the hiring of local workers and give priority to using materials and equipment produced within the city."

Regarding land compensation, which is being handled by the Korea Real Estate Board, he emphasized the need to minimize civil complaints and speed up the project by ensuring smooth negotiations and prompt compensation.

Meanwhile, the Okjeong-Pocheon metropolitan railway construction project is a large-scale initiative to build a 16.9-kilometer double-track railway from Goeup-dong in Yangju City to Gunnae-myeon in Pocheon City, with a total project cost of approximately 1.5067 trillion won. The project aims to open in 2030.

Pocheon City expects that this railway project will improve poor transportation conditions and serve as a catalyst for balanced regional development.
