This agreement entrusts the overall operation of the Yangju Startup Growth Support Center, which will serve as a key hub for startup support, business attraction, and industry-linked policies, to the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation of Kwangwoon University. The goal is to establish a systematic and sustainable foundation for supporting startups.
With this agreement, the city plans to accelerate the creation of a 'Yangju-style startup ecosystem' and establish a virtuous cycle of startup, growth, and investment by focusing on discovering and nurturing startups, spreading startup culture, and attracting investment.
Additionally, through the Growth Support Center, the city will operate programs for the occupancy and growth of early-stage startups, support the stabilization of startup growth foundations and investment attraction, and promote efficient collaboration with universities and local resources.
In particular, the city aims to create a regional industrial innovation ecosystem by matching the technological innovation needs of companies located in industrial complexes such as Gyeonggi Yangju Technovalley with the ideas of startups, leading to technology verification (test beds).
Through this, the city envisions realizing a virtuous cycle of 'startup, business attraction, and industrial growth,' in which startups advance into industrial complexes, and industrial complexes, in turn, become the foundation for new startups.
Yang Soo-hyun, mayor of Yangju, stated, "This agreement marks an important starting point for Yangju City to become an advanced industrial city where startups and industries grow together. We will work with the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation of Kwangwoon University to build a sustainable startup ecosystem where startups are born, grow, and expand into industrial complexes in Yangju."
The Yangju Startup Growth Support Center is located in the annex of the Gyeonggi Textile Comprehensive Support Center at 1215 Pyeonghwa-ro, Yangju City. With a total floor area of 509 square meters, it provides individual office spaces for companies as well as shared spaces such as meeting rooms and studios. After completing the recruitment process for resident companies, the center is scheduled to begin operations in November 2025.
