On October 14, the Daejeon Office of Education, Daejeon Social Service Institute, and Daejeon Cultural Foundation signed a business agreement to operate early childhood education programs that are delivered directly to institutions attended by children aged 2 to 5.
The Daejeon Social Service Institute, which operates the Daejeon Childcare Comprehensive Support Center under commission, will cooperate with the Daejeon Office of Education to provide on-site performance-based safety, multicultural, and disability awareness education programs at 150 kindergartens and daycare centers, in collaboration with the Seo-gu and Daedeok-gu Childcare Comprehensive Support Centers.
In addition, the Daejeon Cultural Foundation, an organization that implements various cultural and artistic policies and creative programs to foster the local cultural ecosystem, will work with the Daejeon Office of Education to provide ongoing experiential (three sessions per institution) arts and culture education programs at 30 kindergartens and daycare centers.
In particular, by prioritizing and supporting institutions attended by children from culturally disadvantaged backgrounds, the initiative is expected to help bridge cultural gaps between different regions.
This project is expected to foster sensitivity and creative expression among young children, as well as instill values for living together, by providing professional and systematic arts and culture education programs.
Superintendent Seol Dongho stated, "A variety of cultural and artistic experiences in early childhood are essential for emotional stability and holistic development. We will operate high-quality education programs through collaboration with professional organizations," adding, "We will actively support the development of sound character and creativity in young children, whose foundations are being formed, by building a continuous system of cooperation with local related institutions."
