Man in His 50s Wields Weapon at Emergency Responders Attempting Rescue... Police Request Arrest Warrant

A man in his 50s was apprehended by police after wielding a weapon and injuring emergency medical technicians.

On October 14, Bucheon Sosa Police Station in Gyeonggi Province announced that it had requested an arrest warrant for Mr. A (56) on charges including obstruction of the performance of special official duties resulting in injury.

Mr. A is accused of wielding a weapon and injuring three 119 emergency medical technicians at his apartment in Okgil-dong, Sosa-gu, Bucheon City, at around 9:14 p.m. the previous day.

The emergency responders were dispatched to the scene after receiving a report from Mr. A's daughter stating, "My father has been drinking and is showing symptoms of breathing difficulties."

Mr. A engaged in dangerous behavior, such as placing his foot on the balcony window, and the emergency responders were injured while trying to restrain him.

The police responded to a joint request from the fire authorities and apprehended Mr. A at the scene. They are currently investigating the specific motive behind the crime.

During police questioning, Mr. A reportedly stated that he "does not remember well due to being intoxicated."

A police official said, "All of the injured emergency responders sustained only minor injuries," adding, "We requested an arrest warrant in consideration of the seriousness of the incident."
