Zhambyl Kazakhstan Philharmonic Showcases Traditional Melodies for 'Korea-Central Asia Cultural Day'

The Zhambyl Kazakhstan National Academic Philharmonic Orchestra presented a diverse program of performances in Gwangju and Seoul over two days, October 4 and 6, in celebration of the 2025 Korea-Central Asia Cultural Day.

This event was held with the support of the Asia Culture Center, the Korea-Central Asia Cooperation Forum Secretariat, and the Korea-Central Asia Friendship Association. The musicians of the Zhambyl Kazakhstan National Academic Philharmonic showcased Kazakh traditional kuis and folk songs with outstanding skill. In addition, a traditional costume collection by the 'Tarbiya' brand, which harmoniously blends tradition and modern aesthetics, attracted significant attention from the audience. Attendees of the fashion show were able to experience Kazakhstan's rich cultural heritage and vibrant energy.


The event was attended by Lee Jongguk, Secretary-General of the Korea-Central Asia Cooperation Forum Secretariat; Kim Sanguk, President of the Asia Culture Center; Lee Okr-yeon, President of the Korea-Central Asia Friendship Association; and ambassadors from various Central Asian countries. Nurgali Arystanov, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Korea, stated in his welcoming remarks, "It is important to strengthen cultural ties between Central Asian countries and Korea," adding that "such events will greatly contribute to enhancing mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of both regions."


Secretary-General Lee Jongguk remarked, "Cultural exchanges between Central Asia and Korea are actively taking place," and assessed that "these exchanges play an important role in raising awareness of each other's rich heritage and traditions." Kim Sanguk, President of the Asia Culture Center, also highly praised the level of this exchange and emphasized the importance of such cultural events in helping people from various Asian countries better understand and broaden their perceptions of one another.
