"Autumn-lit Hapcheon" Welcomes Tourists with Vibrant Festivals in October

Silver Grass, Pink Muhly, and Hwangto Korean Beef
A Festival-Rich Autumn Featuring the Tripitaka Koreana Record Culture

In October, when autumn reaches its peak, Hapcheon County in South Gyeongsang Province welcomes tourists with a variety of vibrant festivals.

Starting with the "Pink Muhly" event, the Hwangmaesan Silver Grass Festival will be held from October 18 to 26, followed by the Hapcheon Hwangto Korean Beef Festival from October 24 to 26, and then the Tripitaka Koreana Record Culture Festival from October 24 to November 2. These events together create "Autumn-lit Hapcheon," a celebration where nature, culture, and gastronomy come together.

At the Sinsoryang Sports Park along the Hwanggang River in Hapcheon-eup, the pink hues of autumn are in full bloom. Here, pink muhly grass, yellow cosmos, Gujeolcho (white chrysanthemums), and aster chrysanthemums blend to enhance the autumn atmosphere, making it a trending "hot spot" in Hapcheon on social media.

To welcome visitors, the county is operating the "Pink Market" until October 26. A variety of activities are available, including flower crown making, instant photo printing, photo events, a flea market, and photo zones. This makes it an ideal destination not only for families but also for couples and friends looking to create lasting memories. The pink waves at Sinsoryang Sports Park mark the first festival of Hapcheon's autumn journey, filled with the romance of the season.

Standing at 1,108 meters above sea level, Hwangmaesan Mountain features a spectacular silver grass field covering approximately 60 hectares on the Hwangmae Plateau (900 meters above sea level) every autumn.

This year, the 4th Hwangmaesan Silver Grass Festival will take place for nine days from October 18 to 26. A range of programs are offered, including docent tours with forest interpreters, sharing cart tours, busking performances, local agricultural product markets, a book zone, and a book cinema, all designed to immerse visitors in the silvery autumn scenery.

The "Hapcheon Hwangto Korean Beef Festival," the county's signature culinary event, will be held from October 24 to 26 at the Hapcheon County Citizens' Sports Park Lawn Plaza.

Hapcheon Hwangto Korean beef, raised with feed containing yellow soil and through systematic livestock management, is a premium brand renowned for its quality. During the festival, a variety of programs such as tasting events and direct sales will be available.

This year's festival is designed as a "culinary venue" where visitors can enjoy both flavor and fun, allowing both residents and tourists to experience the rich taste of Hapcheon Hwangto Korean beef.

From October 24 to November 2, the "2025 Tripitaka Koreana Record Culture Festival" will be held at Haeinsa Temple and the Tripitaka Koreana Theme Park.

This festival will showcase the value of the Tripitaka Koreana, which has endured for a thousand years, and the culture of records through autumn flower and chrysanthemum bonsai exhibitions, as well as various hands-on activities and events. In particular, the inspiration felt in a space where a millennium-old documentary heritage and nature harmonize is a unique experience that can only be found in Hapcheon, and it is expected to leave a lasting impression on visitors.

County Governor Kim Yuncheol stated, "In October, Hapcheon is filled with diverse charms that delight all the senses," adding, "I hope this festival, where nature, culture, and food can all be enjoyed in one place, will create happy memories for both residents and tourists."
