October 17-19 at Ulsan Horticultural Cooperative Hanaro Mart
Direct Market Featuring Pears, Apples, Persimmons, and More
Ulju County in Ulsan will host the 24th Ulsan Pear Festival from October 17 to 19 in the area around the Ulsan Horticultural Cooperative Hanaro Mart, organized by the Ulsan Horticultural Cooperative (President Kim Changgyun).
This festival aims to widely promote the excellence of pears, a representative specialty product of the Ulsan region, and to provide an opportunity for producers and consumers to share the joy of the harvest together.
The event will kick off with an opening ceremony at 6 p.m. on the 17th, followed by a pear, persimmon, and apple quality contest, a direct agricultural product market, experience and sales booths, a global fusion pear cuisine showcase, and a surprise auction of Ulsan agricultural products, among other diverse programs.
At the direct agricultural product market, visitors can find not only local fruits such as pears, apples, and persimmons, but also a variety of Ulju agricultural products including those from Sixth Industrialization certified businesses, young entrepreneurs, and smart farm producers, all in one place.
An official from Ulju County stated, "We hope this festival will serve as a meaningful occasion to widely promote the excellence of Ulsan pears and other local agricultural products, as well as to recognize the hard work of local farmers."
Despite challenging weather conditions this year, including large-scale wildfires, frost damage, heat waves, and heavy rains, Ulsan pears achieved a harvest level similar to an average year. Their high sugar content and excellent quality have also been recognized, with exports to overseas markets such as the United States.
