Non-face-to-face Health Management Services Provided
33 Centers in the District to be Upgraded by Year-end
Dobong District in Seoul (Mayor Oh Eonseok) will transform all district-run senior centers within its jurisdiction into 'Smart Senior Centers' by the end of this year. A Smart Senior Center is a senior center equipped with information and communications technology (ICT), and it is set to become a lifestyle-oriented space that encompasses safety, health, and learning for seniors.
At the Smart Senior Centers, non-face-to-face health management services using digital healthcare devices and remote education and welfare services via video platforms will be provided. In addition, kiosks will be installed in each center to offer digital literacy education for seniors, and karaoke machines will be made available to help prevent dementia and promote emotional stability.
The installation of equipment is currently underway in phases, and the district plans to complete the entire system setup by the end of the year. The project budget of approximately 900 million won will be covered by a special grant from the Seoul Metropolitan Government, as Dobong District was selected as a pilot district for the Smart Senior Center system construction project.
Oh Eonseok, Mayor of Dobong District, stated, "Smart Senior Centers are not just about facility upgrades; they are a key infrastructure to enhance the quality of life for seniors and help them actively adapt to the digital environment." He added, "We will continue to strengthen the local safety net, including Smart Senior Centers, to create an inclusive welfare environment that everyone can truly experience."
