Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon dismissed the criticism from Kim Eunhye, Deputy Chief of Policy for the People Power Party, who questioned, "Is the Democratic Party the Korean branch of the Chinese Communist Party?" by stating, "Political gains achieved through hate and agitation are an illusion."
On the evening of the 13th, Governor Kim wrote on his social networking service (SNS), "Actions that go against the common sense and logic of the people will only hasten political bankruptcy," reiterating his stance.
He advised, "Ahead of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, we must not squander this golden opportunity to strengthen economic cooperation," and added, "A path that matches the dignity of an advanced nation is the way to prevent diplomatic isolation and economic decline."
Previously, Kim Eunhye, Deputy Chief of Policy for the People Power Party, responded to criticism that the party's proposal for the 'Three Major Shopping Prevention Laws for Chinese Nationals' incites hatred, calling such criticism a "hate label" and retorting, "Is the Democratic Party the Korean branch of the Chinese Communist Party?"
On October 12, Assemblywoman Kim posted on her Facebook, "The problem is that while our citizens cannot buy certain things in China, Chinese nationals are buying them in Korea," and questioned, "Why are Chinese people enjoying rights in our country that our own citizens cannot enjoy in China?"
