Gyeonggi Province Accepting Applications for "Youth Basic Income" of 250,000 Won per Quarter Starting on the 15th

Gyeonggi Province is now accepting applications for the fourth quarter of the "Gyeonggi Youth Basic Income," which provides 250,000 won in local currency per quarter, up to a maximum of 1 million won per year, to 24-year-old residents. In response to youth demand, the range of eligible spending has been expanded, allowing academy tuition fees and exam fees to be paid anywhere in the province without regional restrictions.

Eligible applicants are youth who are 24 years old as of October 1 (born between October 2, 2000, and October 1, 2001).

Applicants must have their resident registration in Gyeonggi Province at the time of application and have either lived there continuously for at least three years or for a total of at least ten years. However, foreigners, persons with unknown residence, youth from Seongnam City (which has abolished the Youth Basic Income ordinance), and youth from Goyang City (which has not allocated a related budget this year) are excluded.

Applications can be submitted online from October 15 through the Gyeonggi Job Platform "Jobaba" (apply.jobaba.net).

The resident registration certificate (issued after October 15, including address history for the past five years or the entire period) will be automatically submitted if the applicant agrees to public MyData sharing. Recipients of basic livelihood support must submit a separate certificate.

Youth who agreed to automatic application in the previous quarter will be included in the review without any additional procedures. However, if personal information has changed or if retroactive application for the first to third quarters of 2025 is desired, information must be updated.

Selected youth will receive 250,000 won in local currency starting December 20, either as an electronic card or in mobile form. The benefit is provided regardless of employment or graduation status, income, or assets, and can be used at affiliated merchants within the city or county of residence. The validity period is three years from the date of issuance. It cannot be used at department stores, large discount stores, corporate supermarkets (SSM), or entertainment venues.

Notably, starting in the second half of this year, the eligible spending categories have been expanded to include academy tuition fees and exam fees, which can now be paid anywhere in the province without regional restrictions.
