A Wide Array of Attractions Including 'Romantic Radio' and Folk Music Performances
Jinan County in North Jeolla Province announced on October 13 that it will host the '2nd Jinan Plateau Makgeolli Festival Romantic Su Mak (Jumak)' on October 24 and 25 in the northern area of Maisan Mountain.
This year’s festival, organized by Jinan County and hosted by the Jinan County Tourism Association, will welcome visitors with even more diverse offerings, following the enthusiastic response to last year's 'Jinan Plateau Makgeolli Festival Romantic Pocha.'
'Romantic Su Mak' is a night-time tourism festival in a traditional tavern style, blending traditional liquor with an emotional atmosphere. The event will run from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitors can enjoy local Makgeolli and a variety of reasonably priced side dishes accompanied by romantic music, while also experiencing the unique autumn ambiance of Jinan.
The festival venue will feature a wide array of attractions, including: ▲Liquor-themed recreation activities ▲The 'Sulsul Romantic Radio' ▲Folk music performances ▲Jinan All-Night Busking & EDM Party ▲The interactive 'Romantic Su Marble Travel' program ▲A 'Decorate Your Own Gourd Cup' activity ▲The 'Romantic Four-Cut Photo Booth' ▲The 'Jumo Makgeolli One Glass Decibel' ▲The 'Merchant 1,000 Won Auction' ▲Eco-friendly wooden playground games, and more.
In particular, as was the case last year, local Makgeolli will be provided as a set when purchasing side dishes. For the convenience of festival visitors, a shuttle bus will operate between Jeonju and Jinan (round-trip). The shuttle bus fare can be reimbursed with a coupon to be used at the event venue.
Lee Jaedong, director of the Jinan County Tourism Association, stated, "This festival will go beyond simply consuming alcohol, offering a time to enjoy traditional culture in an emotional setting. We hope visitors will take interest in the venue, which will be decorated with traditional lanterns, Hanji paper ornaments, and photo zones, making it a popular spot for social media photos."
Meanwhile, the county plans to further expand the scale and content of Romantic Su Mak, positioning it as a new-concept emotional tavern-style festival where visitors can enjoy Jinan’s nature, traditions, and culture together, ultimately developing it into Jinan’s signature night festival.
