Gwangju Bukgu will host a reading culture festival with local residents. The "Dabukdabuk Book Festival" will take place on October 18 from 10 a.m. at Ilgok Neighborhood Park No. 1 and around Ilgok Library.
Bukgu has continued this festival as a resident-participatory cultural event since 2021. This year, 15 organizations, including local libraries, reading groups, and community organizations, will participate. There will be six themed zones featuring performances, hands-on activities, exhibitions, and lectures, offering enjoyment for all ages.
The festival will open in the park with a bubble and balloon show, as well as student dance performances. During the opening ceremony, Mayor Moonin and Council Chair Choi Moosong will take the stage to introduce "The Book of My Life" and share stories about books with residents. In the library auditorium, there will be a lecture by author Choi Eunok and a picture book reading performance.
Hands-on activities such as drone experiences, traditional games, and bookmark making will also be available, encouraging participation from families visiting the event.
