Gochang County Recruiting Participants for "Children's Pansori King of Kings Competition"

Applications accepted until November 7
"Nurturing and discovering future pansori masters"

Gochang County in North Jeolla Province is recruiting participants for the "38th National Children's Pansori King of Kings Competition," which will determine this year's top child pansori performer, until November 7.


According to the county on October 13, this competition aims to discover and nurture the next generation of child pansori masters, commemorate the cultural and artistic achievements of Shin Jae-hyo, who compiled the six traditional pansori repertoires, and carry on his legacy.

Jointly hosted by Gochang County and KBS Jeonju Broadcasting Station and organized by the Dongni Cultural Foundation, the competition will be held at the Dongni Gugak Hall in Gochang. The preliminary round will take place on November 8, and on the following day (the 9th), seven children who pass the preliminaries will compete in the finals alongside a celebratory performance.


The King of Kings finals will be broadcast nationwide by KBS Jeonju Broadcasting Station, widely showcasing the pansori talents of young participants, discovering future pansori talents, and promoting the value of Korea's traditional culture.


The competition is open to children from across the country who have won awards at national music competitions in 2024 or 2025. Applicants should refer to the announcement on the Gochang County website for details and contact the Dongni Cultural Foundation for further information.
