"World Webtoon Festival"
Free Exhibitions and Autograph Sessions
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency will hold the World Webtoon Festival from October 19 to 22 in the Lotte Town area of Jamsil, Seoul. By bringing together domestic and international creators, platforms, production companies, and fans, the event aims to strengthen Korea's status as the birthplace of webtoons.
The special exhibition, "Chronicles of Webtoons," will be presented in six parts at the Lotte World Ice Rink starting on October 19. The exhibition will look back on the past and present of webtoons and offer a glimpse into their future. Attendees can also enjoy screenings of webtoon-based animations such as "Maru is a Puppy" and "Yonghan Girl," live drawing shows by artists, autograph sessions, and a live dubbing show by voice actor Nam Dohyeong. Naver Webtoon, Netmarble, and Wacom will also participate, hosting exhibitions and hands-on events.
At Lotte Cinema World Tower, Theater 8, talk concerts will be held featuring the original creators of webtoons that have been adapted into films or dramas, such as "Terror Man," "Shark," and "Itaewon Class." There will also be a lecture for new writers by a Kakao Entertainment producer and the awards ceremony for the "2025 Naver Webtoon High School Champions." All events are free to attend. Participants can register in advance on the official website or sign up on-site.
From October 16 to 26, a pop-up store selling webtoon merchandise will operate from the first basement level to the fourth floor of Lotte World Mall. Twelve companies will participate, exhibiting and selling products based on webtoon intellectual property.
On the final day of the festival, October 22, the "2025 World Webtoon Awards Ceremony" will take place at Lotte Cinema World Tower, Theater 8. Awards will be given to ten main works, and the winners of the Grand Prize, the Jury President's Award, and the newly established Readers' Choice Award will be announced.
A Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism official said, "We hope this event will encourage those working in the webtoon industry, who are driving the growth of K-content, and become a venue for global fans to connect," adding, "We will strive to establish this festival as a globally recognized event."
