Hampyeong County in Jeollanam-do announced on October 12, 2025, that it has been selected for the Ministry of Environment's "2026 Aged Water Supply Pipeline Improvement Project."
The county plans to invest a total of 38.4 billion won, including 19.2 billion won in national funding, to renovate 49.9 kilometers of aged water supply pipelines over the next six years starting in 2026.
Along with replacing the pipelines, the county will also carry out related projects such as replacing 812 outdated water meters, conducting leak detection and repairs, and establishing a block and maintenance management system. The focus is on establishing a systematic and efficient water supply management system.
By establishing a long-term maintenance system, the county aims to improve the efficiency of water supply operations and the water supply rate, while ensuring that residents have access to clean and safe tap water at all times, as well as securing a stable supply network even in disaster or emergency situations.
County Governor Lee Sangik stated, "Improving water supply infrastructure is the most important task for the health and safety of our residents. With the securing of national funding, we will steadily push forward with the renovation of aged water pipelines, supply clean and safe tap water, and establish a virtuous cycle system that extends to operation, management, and maintenance."
