The Gyeonggi Tourism Organization has newly renovated 'Cheommori Street' in Jeongok-eup, Yeoncheon County, transforming it into a special tourism hub where soldiers and local residents can come together.
To celebrate the renewal of Cheommori Street, the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization will hold the 'Dugundugun Cheommori Street Festival' on October 18.
Approximately 300 people, including soldiers and local residents, are expected to participate in the festival. The event will feature a military parade, the Cheommori Three-Event Sports Competition, singing and dance contests for soldiers and residents, and special stages such as 'Proud Soldier Dad' and 'Proud Partner.' In addition, there will be various experience booths such as combat ration making, military dog tag creation, face painting, and sand art, as well as an outdoor food court, offering visitors a unique and enjoyable experience.
The Gyeonggi Tourism Organization will continue to operate a variety of regular programs even after the festival ends.
Starting October 25, every weekend, the 'Soldier Respect Program' will offer discounts and rewards at participating stores to those who join the military uniform cosplay, as well as to soldiers' families and visitors. Through this initiative, the organization aims to foster natural interaction between soldiers and the local community, while revitalizing the local economy together.
Additionally, from November 1 to November 15, customers who shop at Cheommori Street stores will have the opportunity to participate in a military dog tag making experience and a prize giveaway event.
A representative from the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization stated, "We expect that Yeoncheon Cheommori Street will become more than just an ordinary neighborhood, evolving into a tourism hub where military units and the local community can come together," adding, "We hope many people will visit and enjoy the new changes in the region."
