Samsung Electronics has been ordered to pay a large sum in damages for infringing on wireless network-related patents held by a U.S. company.
According to major foreign media outlets such as Bloomberg on October 10 (local time), a jury at the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas ruled that Samsung Electronics must pay $445.5 million (approximately 638.1 billion won) to Collision Communications, the patent-holding company.
Collision Communications, headquartered in New Hampshire, holds patents related to improving wireless network efficiency.
Previously, Collision Communications filed a lawsuit in 2023, claiming that Samsung Electronics had infringed on its patents.
The jury determined that Samsung's products equipped with wireless functions, including its notebook computers and Galaxy smartphones, infringed on four of Collision Communications' patents.
