During the meeting, each university shared the outcomes of their ongoing educational programs and explored future plans and opportunities for collaboration. The universities introduced their specialized programs that leverage their respective strengths, exchanged ideas, and agreed to work together to expand synergies in regional education.

Pohang City was selected as a pilot area for the Education Development Special Zone in 2024 and is operating on a trial basis through 2026. After evaluation, a decision will be made in 2027 on whether to grant official designation. The city is building an innovative education system centered on local universities, with a dual focus on global talent development and secondary battery talent cultivation.

At the meeting, Pohang University of Science and Technology presented the "Youth Mathematical Artificial Intelligence Academy," which integrates artificial intelligence and mathematics to provide AI convergence education. Handong Global University introduced its native English education and literacy enhancement programs. Sunrin University and Pohang University each introduced programs focused on major exploration and career path discovery, respectively.

The participants agreed to expand inter-university cooperation so that students can access a broader range of learning opportunities beyond their majors and institutions.

Pohang City plans to use this meeting as a starting point to establish a regular consultative framework with the universities and to continuously share and promote the achievements of the Education Development Special Zone project.

A city official stated, "This Global Talent Development Working Council meeting for the Education Development Special Zone was a moment where Pohang's universities united in their resolve to nurture the city's youth into future global leaders. We will actively support young people in Pohang so they can develop global competencies and plan for their futures."
