Sejong, a City of Urban and Rural Integration
Citizens Propose the Future of Rural Communities
The Sejong Lifelong Education and Policy Institute (Director: Kwon Younggeol, hereinafter referred to as the Institute) is holding the 3rd Future Strategy Academy at the Park Yeon Culture Center Convergence Room until October 28, 2025. Prior to this, 30 citizens can register on a first-come, first-served basis through the Sejong Citizen University Jiphyeonjeon website for a course on rural convergence industry policy. For more details, inquiries can be made to the Institute's Human Resources Development Department.
The 'Future Strategy Academy' is a citizen-participatory educational program in which Sejong citizens gain an understanding of key policies through lectures by policy officials and work together to seek new alternatives through discussion. Going beyond simply listening, this program allows citizens to directly identify issues, propose solutions, and experience their suggestions being reflected in the actual policy process.
The third session will focus on rural convergence industry policy. It will explore the potential of industries that integrate agriculture, tourism, and services, diagnose the challenges faced by local rural areas from the citizens' perspective, and serve as a platform for participatory discussions to propose new strategies and alternatives.
The program will begin with an introductory lecture by the public official in charge of the relevant policy. Participants will then be divided into groups to freely discuss ways to revitalize rural areas and present policy ideas based on the outcomes of their discussions. The presented ideas will be evaluated, with outstanding proposals receiving awards, and a prize draw will be held for all participants.
Director Kwon Younggeol stated, "The rural convergence industry is an important strategy that can simultaneously revitalize agriculture and the local economy. I hope that through the Academy, citizens' creative ideas will be connected to policy and serve as an opportunity to open new pathways for Sejong's rural areas."
