On October 10, Lee Cheolwoo, Governor of North Gyeongsang Province, inspected event-related facilities in Gyeongju together with Prime Minister Kim Minseok, who visited the city for an on-site inspection ahead of the APEC summit. They also encouraged the APEC preparation support team, police officers, firefighters, and other staff on duty.

This marked Prime Minister Kim Minseok's sixth visit to Gyeongju since taking office. After encouraging the staff alongside Governor Lee Cheolwoo, Gyeongju Mayor Joo Nakyoung, and others, he inspected the PRS accommodation for leaders and the main summit venue, HwaBaek Convention Center. The group then visited Dongguk University Gyeongju Hospital, where they toured the emergency medical center and VIP ward and received a briefing on the APEC emergency medical preparedness.

At the office of the North Gyeongsang Province APEC preparation support team, Prime Minister Kim encouraged the support team staff as well as firefighters, police officers, and others who have been working on-site to prepare for APEC. He also asked everyone to continue their efforts until the very end so that the summit, now just over 20 days away, can be held successfully.

He expressed particular gratitude to those who worked hard to prepare for the event even during the Chuseok holiday.

After the staff encouragement meeting, Prime Minister Kim, Governor Lee, and their party inspected the preparations at the PRS accommodation and the summit venue.

The group then moved to Dongguk University Hospital, where they toured the newly renovated emergency medical center and VIP ward. They received a briefing on APEC preparedness from Ryu Hyunwook, the APEC Chief Medical Officer. Ryu Hyunwook currently serves as a professor of emergency medicine at Kyungpook National University Hospital.

Chief Medical Officer Ryu stated, "We have established a comprehensive medical support system, including a medical support team of 333 personnel, three on-site clinics, 56 ambulances, five transport helicopters, and a network of 29 partner hospitals. With top-level on-site response and collaboration systems, such as the emergency patient helicopter transport drill on September 29, we will do our utmost to provide the highest level of medical support services during the summit."

Prime Minister Kim Minseok emphasized, "The real success or failure of APEC depends on how thoroughly and comprehensively things are checked on-site. Please proactively, actively, and voluntarily inspect every detail in all areas, including infrastructure, venues, accommodations, services, security, safety, and food."

Governor Lee Cheolwoo said, "With the Prime Minister's six on-site visits and ongoing attention, public interest in APEC is rising. Thanks to your encouragement, the staff working on-site will be able to stay motivated until the very end of the event."

Governor Lee added, "The main infrastructure work for the summit venue and media center has been completed, and during the Chuseok holiday, we proceeded with interior work and ventilation of new buildings. We will soon complete the interiors and, after pre-testing, present flawless facilities. Our province has already prepared more than 1,000 checklist items for on-site inspections, and we will remain vigilant until the end, checking everything thoroughly and meticulously to impress participants and leave hope for future generations."
