Namdong Fire Station in Incheon Launches Investigation
A shocking post requesting incidents such as cardiac arrest cases or childbirths in restrooms to occur at a fire station was uploaded to a social networking service (SNS), prompting fire authorities to launch an investigation into the circumstances.
According to Yonhap News on October 10, citing the Incheon Fire Headquarters, a photo containing phrases such as "Please make two cardiac arrest cases happen at a nursing home" was uploaded last month to an anonymous personal Instagram account.
The background of the photo appeared to be an office presumed to be an ambulance center under the jurisdiction of the Namdong Fire Station. The photo showed three people in fire station uniforms sitting together, along with a computer screen displaying the written message.
The photo included phrases that seemed to wish for emergencies, such as "00 Please let there be more than 15 dispatches today," "Please make two cardiac arrest cases happen at a nursing home," and "Please make one childbirth in a subway restroom happen," along with the message, "All the gods in heaven, I beg you."
Acute cardiac arrest refers to a sudden cessation of heart function and blood circulation, which is a medical emergency. Without appropriate follow-up action, it can lead to death.
The poster also added a mocking remark with the photo, writing "Team 1 handover details lol." It is reported that the photo was deleted on the same day it was posted.
The Namdong Fire Station received a report about this incident last month through the National Sinmungo public petition system. The station believes that a temporary worker, employed as a substitute paramedic, wrote the inappropriate post and is currently investigating the specific circumstances.
It has not yet been confirmed whether the author and the SNS poster are the same person. The fire station stated that, as the matter is under investigation, it could not disclose further details.
