The chief investigator responsible for the case involving former Korea Communications Commission Chairperson Lee Jinsook, who was arrested and later released by the police, has been replaced as part of a regular personnel reshuffle.
According to the police, during the regular personnel changes conducted on October 10, the head of Investigation Division 2 at Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul was transferred to Jungbu Police Station in Seoul. An officer at the superintendent level from Nowon Police Station in Seoul has been appointed to fill the position.
The police plan to review the investigation records related to former Chairperson Lee over the weekend and will decide whether to request her to appear for further questioning. As of now, the likelihood of her being summoned over the weekend is considered low.
Im Mooyoung, the attorney representing former Chairperson Lee, stated on Facebook, "If the third summons is deemed to be merely procedural, we plan to file a complaint for abuse of authority."
Attorney Im added, "We are prepared to comply with any request to appear at any time," and continued, "We are actually waiting for the police to request an appearance, as we need to address issues such as the false issuance of a summons, false claims regarding the statute of limitations, defamation against the defense counsel, and the circumstances surrounding the three applications for an arrest warrant."
